Employment
-
2009 - Current
I have worked as a Creative Producer since 2009. I have honed my curatorial, project management, line management, budgeting, artist development, fundraising, marketing, and administrative skills working for organisations such as Rachel Elliston Photography Ltd - a fashion photography agency; Mutant Labs - a video games studio; arts organisations Peninsula Arts and Take A Part; and self-instigated artist-led projects such as Project Space 11, Come To Ours, Flock South West, and Rame Projects. I currently work three days a week as Education and Engagement Curator at Harbour House, South Devon.
-
2009 - Current
My artistic practice informs all strands of my work, including as researcher, educator, and curator. I explore sited histories and myth-making, and often work with communities of geography and of interest. Key highlights from my practice include a solo presentation of work at Jerwood Visual Arts, London; being awarded residencies and fellowships such as Standpoint Futures and a SOMA Mexico City Fellowship; and my extensive work within the artist-led ecology, most recently founding and co-directing ACE funded Rame Projects in South East Cornwall.
-
2015 - Current
I completed my fully funded doctorate in 2020, and since then have been expanding my research portfolio with both practice-as and practice-led publications. My research is inherently interdisciplinary and has won recognition and awards for new methodological approaches using practice-research. I also have a successful track record of developing and delivering non-traditional conferences and symposia for both academic and public audiences. As my research is often collaborative with communities, there is a strong impact narrative.
-
2013 - Current, South West HEIs
I have worked as a dissertation supervisor, module lead, and visiting lecturer across Theatre and Performance, Dance, Acting, Sociology, and Fine Art courses at Marjon University, Arts University Plymouth, and University of Plymouth, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Most recently I was lecturer across fine art postgraduate degrees and programme lead on the MFA Fine Art at Arts University Plymouth, 2022-23. Areas of expertise include contemporary art, socially engaged practice, professional development, artist-led and DIY projects, working with archives, live and performance art, lens-based media/moving image, public art, art and politics, art and ethics.
-
2010 - 2015, University of Plymouth
I worked in a variety of roles in the Research and Creative Industries office at the University of Plymouth. Tasks included creating and maintaining research groups’ web presence; creating research reports and prospectuses; project managing international conferences; preparing practice-research portfolios for REF.
